Good morning! Your School Nurse Jessie here!
Today is National Teachers day!
Teachers, bus drivers, admin, aides, lunch staff, coaches, and more... I can not begin to tell you how much I appreciate every single person here at Skull Valley School. But I am going to try.
I see the work and care they give every single day. I have a special perspective, as I have had several views over the years. Parent, board member, now co-worker, and a long time ago, student. During the years I have seen through all the different lenses and each time I just gain more of an appreciation for what they do. As a nurse who has worked in stressful positions, I know what it takes. I know the type of person required. I know it takes someone who is selfless, resilient, and passionate beyond reason to show up for this type of role.
Working at a rural school presents its own challenges and every staff member faces them head on. From wearing multiple hats in a day, to long commutes, to multi age classrooms, our staff thrives in their roles not only facing what some would say is an uphill battle, but shining. I have watched both my children work through so many obstacles that I have no one to thank but... a teacher.
Recently having the honor of joining this fantastic group has proven to me even more so the integrity and dedication of every person here at Skull Valley School. I have been a part of this community, town, village (pick your favorite, they all count) for over 40 years and I know we have something special here. But the magic comes from the people. It comes from the kids knowing they can be kids, they can learn in a personalized way, and they have people they can count on.
But some magic comes from the strong community behind it all.
So today we invite you to join us in celebrating our teachers and staff who show up every day with grit, heart, and unwavering commitment to help shape and change lives. Please feel free to like, share, and especially comment below with your favorite memory of Skull Valley School. I know everyone would enjoy reading them and many of us would enjoy going down memory lane. And if you see a teacher today, give them a quick "Thank You!".
