Welcome to Bar U Bar

Nestled at the base of Granite Mountain, just 12 miles southwest of historic Prescott, Arizona the Bar U Bar Ranch is well-known for raising and training some of America’s finest western horses. With their western cowboy tradition and their passion for breeding superior Quarter Horses, the Bar U Bar Ranch brand, – U – is one of Arizona’s best known and oldest brands.

Over the last six decades, the Bar U Bar Ranch has raised and owned World Champion Show horses and Grade 1 Stakes Race winners. The current show string includes winners in National Reining Horse Association (NRHA), American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) and National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) shows and events. In 2009 the ranch received the coveted 50 Year Breeder’s award from the American Quarter Horse Association.

Each horse becomes part of the Bar U Bar family, developing their personality and uniqueness. All show horses are turned out to graze every day in their very own one-acre paddocks, which helps their minds and bodies stay sound. Training includes all Reining and Cow Horse disciplines done on the ranch, and every horse learns to hobble, ground tie, gather cattle and navigate trail obstacles.

Owned and operated by AQHA Professional Horsemen Laurel and Barry Denton, the Bar U Bar Ranch is a one of a kind. A 2017 World Champion, AQHA & NRCHA judge, and a multiple AQHA World Champion winner, Laurel career spans over five decades with over 3,500 AQHA points in thirteen different events. With over 35 years as a farrier and blacksmith, Barry accomplishments include many state titles in Reining and Working Cow Horse and his work as a professional photographer is breathtaking.
