Good morning Skowhegan, August was an extremely busy month between the Skowhegan State Fair as well as all the other events taking place. But all of this has not stopped our Detectives and Patrol Officers working the streets and continuing to remove dangerous drugs out of our community. In the last couple of weeks, your police department has removed 36.86 grams of crack co***ne, seized , $6,250.00 in drug proceeds, and arrested 3 individuals for trafficking in scheduled drugs as well as other charges. Great job by all Officers working day and night keeping Skowhegan a safe place to live, work, and visit. Chief Bucknam

Good morning Skowhegan, Its officially here. The SKOWHEGAN STATE FAIR! For some of you, the wait is over. For others, I hope you have gone shopping, found alternate ways of getting around town and figuring out ways to bite your tongue 😝 because of the traffic situation we face every year. This fair brings a lot of folks to Skowhegan and that’s a great thing for every single business. Please make sure you work with us during the next 10 days as we work to keep things moving. Arguing with us on the road is not going to help any situation so please just follow our directions and we will get you where you need to go. At the Tuesday night Selectmen’s meeting, a citizen stood up and commented how he thought the Skowhegan Police Department was one of the best in the State. Great compliment no doubt and K9 Reece only adds to our Towns Motivation. Yesterday, Law Enforcement K9’s from all over the State assembled at the Criminal Justice Academy to take part in a tradition that hasn’t been thought of since 2017. Thanks to Sgt. GJ Neagle with the Maine State Police K9 Training Program, that tradition is back. Yesterday K9 Reece participated in the 2026 Iron Dog competition and though the competition was fierce, K9 Reece took 1st Place in the K9 Detection Team. Great job Sgt. York and K9 Reece. Good morning, Skowhegan! For weeks, I’ve been waiting for the perfect shot—and last night, it finally happened. I parked my cruiser and walked into the field just as the wind picked up, snapping our Nation’s flag out as it knew what I wanted. Mother Nature knew her role and she didn’t disappoint! On my way back, I saw the local Patriot responsible for putting the flag up for our community. I gave him a proud salute as I drove by and got a thumbs up in return. As a veteran, I just want to give a personal thank you. Literal goosebumps. Absolutely put a smile on my face all the way home. Keeping Skowhegan a safe place to live, work, and visit. Chief Bucknam
