In traditional schools, every child is expected to learn the same thing, at the exact same pace, at the exact same time. At Community Regional Charter School (CRCS), we do things differently:

✨Ungraded & Learner-Focused: Learners work in flexible 3–4 year age spans based on readiness, learning targets, and social-emotional needs—not arbitrary birth dates.
✨Responsive Lunch & Recess: Through our supervised 1-hour Open Campus block, learners practice self-regulation by deciding when to eat, move, and recharge.
✨Motivating Electives & Seminars: Students choose multi-age opportunities tied to real interests—from robotics and 3D printing to outdoors, pottery, cooking, and building.
✨Flexible Schedules: Daily blocks are built around customized learning groupings rather than restrictive traditional tracks.
Individually Paced Curriculum: Clear learning progressions ensure no child is rushed ahead before mastery or held back when ready to soar.

Lunch and recess can be more than a schedule—they can be a chance to grow.

During CRCS Open Campus, elementary learners have a supervised hour to decide when they need to eat, play, move, and recharge. There is no one-size-fits-all lunch bell telling every child to hurry, wait, or stop at the same moment. Instead, learners practice listening to their bodies, managing their time, making responsible decisions, and returning to class ready to learn.

Imagine a school where your child is seen for who they are—not compared to everyone else.

At CRCS, learners receive instruction based on what they are ready to learn next. A child who is ready for a new challenge can move forward. A child who needs more time or support can receive it without being defined by a label.

At Community Regional Charter School, we believe a school meal should be more than something students grab between classes. It should be nourishing, welcoming, and made with care.

This year, CRCS is preparing breakfast and lunch in-house through our from-scratch kitchen. Our goal is to offer wholesome, nutritious meals that give learners the energy they need to learn, create, explore, play, and grow. 🫛🥕🥔🍅🌽

Everything at CRCS is intentional - including the food we put on our kids' plates!

CRCS now has a bus stop in Newport! Learners are able to board the bus at Newport Wal-Mart and head to one of our campuses in Skowhegan or Cornville. CRCS provides a free, comprehrensive, ungraded, innovative program that focuses on meeting learners where they are at on their learning journeys.
