Commercial Building Fire in Bridgeport

Skippack Fire Company was dispatched as a Rapid Intervention Team to a building fire at Car Zone Auto Group on DeKalb Street in Bridgeport around 5:30 p.m. Upon arrival, the crew was reassigned to ventilate the roof and check for hot spots. They also assisted with overhaul operations in the second floor apartments. Skippack Fire Company was released from the scene at approximately 8:00 p.m.

Two Saturday Morning Calls

At 4:47 on Saturday morning Skippack firefighters were awoken to a CO alarm call. The crew changed batteries in the detector and headed back home to bed. A second alarm for a commercial building fire in East Norriton came in at 6:14 am. Skippack firefighters stood by as the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT), ready to rescue any firefighter. The crew of ladder 86 also helped clean up 5 inch hose before being released around 8:40 am.

Forcible Entry Drill

During this week's training, firefighters practiced forcible entry techniques. They worked in one- and two-person teams on both inward and outward swinging doors.

Cub pack 105 visits Skippack Fire Company

Skippack Fire Company was excited to welcome Cub pack 105 to their station on Tuesday night. Scouts rotated through three stations learning about fire prevention, fire trucks and getting an opportunity to spray a fire hose.

Ladder Arch for County 9/11 Memorial procession

Ladder 86 and crew joined with Harleysville Fire Company's Ladder 89 to provide a ladder arch for the procession of the Montgomery County 9/11 Memorial Sculpture and artifact. It will now be hosted at the Elmwood Park Zoo with no plans expressed to return to the courthouse.

"Originally commissioned by the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners in 2003, sculptor Sassana Norton used an I-beam from the North Tower of the World Trade Center as part of an 18-foot monument honoring victims and first responders of the 9/11 attacks. The monument was erected at the Montgomery County Courthouse in September 2005 before its relocation to the Eagleville campus in 2021 due to Courthouse construction." * DPS newsletter

We Want You!

At our Touch a Truck event, the vehicles were more than just machines—they captured the imagination of every child in attendance.

Children eagerly climbed into the Firetruck cabs, took hold of the steering wheels, and their excitement shone brighter than the truck’s own lights. That expression of pure joy is the same reaction you’ll see if you try on the gear yourself.

Kids already love the fire apparatus. Imagine how much more time they’d want to spend at the firehouse if Mom or Dad was the one responding to calls.

Skippack Fire Company is made up entirely of volunteers. We provide all the training you need. We are looking for first responders and support members. You don’t have to be young or fearless—you simply need to make the decision. It’s easy; all it takes is saying "Yes."
