SECURE YOUR LOAD | Each year, about 850 people are killed and almost 19,000 more are injured in crashes involving objects in the road in the U.S.

Before transporting a load, ask yourself these questions:
🛻 Is there any chance of debris or cargo falling or blowing out of my vehicle?
🛻 Is my load secured at the back, sides, and top?
🛻 What would happen to my load if I had to brake suddenly, if I hit a bump, or if another vehicle hit me?
🛻 Would I want my loaded vehicle driving through my own neighborhood?
🛻 Would I feel safe if I were driving behind my vehicle?

Remember, drive safe and secure your load as if everyone you love is driving in the car behind you.

🐾❤️ Thank You, United Fellowship Church! ❤️🐾

The Skiatook Police Department would like to recognize and thank the United Fellowship Church for their generous donation to the Skiatook Animal Shelter.

During their Vacation Bible School (VBS) this week, offerings were collected and chosen to be donated to the proceeds to help the animals at our shelter. Their thoughtfulness, generosity, and compassion for animals in need is something worth celebrating.

Community support plays an important role in helping us care for the animals entrusted to the shelter, and this donation will help provide for their daily needs while they await loving homes.

To the families, volunteers, and church leadership who made this possible. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our shelter animals. Your kindness is greatly appreciated and serves as a wonderful example of giving back to the community.

Thank you, United Fellowship Church, for your support of the Skiatook Animal Shelter and the City of Skiatook. 🐶🐱🐾

One of the safest choices drivers and passengers can make is to buckle up.

Seat belts are the BEST defense against impaired, aggressive, and distracted drivers.

Buckle up. Every trip. Every time.

Moving over isn’t just the right thing to do when you see flashing lights along the side of a road — it’s the law. 🚨

‼️ In Oklahoma, the law requires any driver approaching a stationary vehicle with flashing or hazard lights to move over into the next lane. 👉 If that is not possible, drivers should proceed with “due caution” and slow to a “safe speed for the existing road, weather, and traffic conditions.”

Safety on the roads is a shared responsibility – let’s work together so everyone makes it home safe and sound.

A quick errand in 90 degree weather — or even ONE minute alone — could be deadly for kids left behind in a car. ⚠️👶

🇺🇸 MEMORIAL DAY 2026🇺🇸

The Skiatook Police Department would like to remind our community what this holiday truly represents.

Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Their courage and dedication have secured the freedoms we enjoy every day.

While many will gather with family and friends this weekend, we ask everyone to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of this day.

🚓 Safety Reminders:
• Drive responsibly and never drive intoxicated
• Watch for increased traffic and pedestrians
• Buckle up and ensure children are properly secured
• Stay alert on the roadways and waterways

Our officers will be out working to keep everyone safe.

From all of us at the Skiatook Police Department, we wish you a safe and meaningful Memorial Day as we remember and honor our fallen heroes.

🇺🇸 We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸
