🚒 Today is International Firefighters’ Day 🚒
Here in Skellytown, we know what it means to watch the horizon during wildfire season, to prepare for the possibility of evacuation, and to rely on the people who step forward when it matters most.
Time and time again, firefighters' have answered that call—whether on the fire line or responding to medical emergencies in our community.
Because of their courage, training, and quick response, our community has been protected in moments when the outcome could have been very different. When emergencies strike, they stand between danger and safety.
We are grateful for all firefighters in the Panhandle, across Texas, and beyond—but today, we especially recognize our own: the men and women of Skellytown Fire Department who serve this town with dedication, often without recognition.
They are volunteers.
They have full-time jobs.
They have families.
And still—they show up.
They train on their own time.
They answer the call—no matter the hour.
Because of them, we are still here.
Because of them, our community is still standing.
That kind of service cannot be measured—and it will never be taken for granted.
From all of us: thank you for your courage, your sacrifice, and your unwavering commitment to protecting Skellytown.
Today, we honor you. Every day, we rely on you.
