If your dog/pup is not good with the fireworks/other loud noises on and around the 4th, go see your veterinarian now, not on the 4th of July. Get the stuff the 4 legged baby's need to help them be calm.

On the same note. If there is a veteran in your family that has problems with loud noises, help them find activity for the 4th away from the noise. Maybe a doc appointment to get something to help them. Im sure they want to spend it with family, but the family may need to celebrate in a quieter place.

All in all, help those that dont like explosions and loud noises. Veterans and pets are owed the help and support. Please start working on that today.

If you plan to drive SR 4 Ocean Beach Hwy to Cathlamet, Expect delays

Expect delays on SR 4 in Wahkiakum County for annual bridge inspections April 13-16

CATHLAMET – Travelers who use State Route4 in Wahkiakum County should plan for several days of lane closures and delays.

Beginning Monday, April 13, Maintenance crews will inspect several bridges along SR 4 in Wahkiakum County. These annual inspections help keep the bridges safe and in good condition for all travelers and they extend the structure’s lifespan.

What to expect
Single-lane closures along SR 4 with flaggers guiding traffic through one open lane at the following locations and times:

Monday, April 13:

Skamokawa Creek bridge (milepost 29) from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Rangila Slough bridge (milepost 11.3) from 2 to 4 p.m.
Tuesday, April 14:

Grays River Rosburg bridge (milepost 15) near Altona-Pilar Road from 8 to 11 a.m.
Thursday, April 16:

West Fork Skamokawa Creek bridge (milepost 27.5) from 7:30 to 9 a.m.
Deep River bridge (milepost 10.7) from 9:30 to 10 a.m.

Had a practice house burn today. The crew we got to work with did fantastic. Everyone did great work. Jack, Billy, MD (Mother), Justin and Austin Burkhalter, Kevin Maki did fantastic work. All the other crews did their work and beyond. Thank you ALL.

On April 4, we will be hosting a training house burn. All Wahkiakum and supposedly an outside department will be doing that training. So lots of fire apparatus and smoke in the valley. It's just us practicing our skills and learning new things. We are counting approximately 50 personal for training. Please keep clear of the fire grounds and roads around the area of middle valley. We don't want to add extras to the training. There are personnel and equipment set up to respond to all levels of emergencys.
