The Skagway Public Library was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of the late, great Dolly Parton… A woman of many talents, Dolly was a singer, songwriter, actress, activist, and, most importantly to us, a fierce advocate of literacy and reading. The incredible Dolly Parton's Imagination Library has distributed 3,208,252 free books to children in Alaska alone!

This month’s display case celebrates Dolly’s contributions and honors her profound legacy. Check out some of her books and movies in our collection or via the electronic resources, Libby and Kanopy; read some of the fantastic books chosen to be part of the Imagination Library; and sign your 0-5 year old up to receive free books through this organization! Dolly’s legacy lives on…

“Every book is a treasure and every time you open one up you will meet new friends and take wonderful journeys to magical places.” - Dolly Parton (1946 - 2026)
