🇺🇸 25 YEARS — WE WILL NEVER FORGET
Twenty-five years ago today, a beautiful September morning became a day that would forever change our nation.
There are six moments in time that mark the events of September 11, 2001:
8:46 a.m. — American Airlines Flight 11 strikes the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
9:03 a.m. — United Airlines Flight 175 strikes the South Tower.
9:37 a.m. — American Airlines Flight 77 strikes the Pentagon.
9:59 a.m. — The South Tower collapses.
10:03 a.m. — United Airlines Flight 93 crashes near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
10:28 a.m. — The North Tower collapses.
In the midst of unimaginable tragedy, firefighters, law enforcement officers, paramedics and countless others ran toward the danger.
Among those who would not return home were 343 members of the FDNY.
Today, outside our station in downtown Sisters, our flag display stands in their honor — one flag for each of the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.
For those of us in the fire service, Never Forget is more than a phrase. It is a promise to remember their courage, their service, their sacrifice and the families who have carried their loss for 25 years.
We also remember all 2,977 victims whose lives were taken that day, and the first responders who have suffered and died in the years since from illnesses related to their service at Ground Zero.
Today, we remember.
