This morning we participated in a simulation exercise with Sanford Hospital involving a heart attack victim. The victim, a simulation mannequin, collapsed. Bystanders initiated CPR, called for help, and applied the AED. The victim was defibrillated and pulses were restored prior to ambulance arrival. The Paramedics arrived, applied the Cardiac Monitor, recognized a STEMI (heart attack), and notified Sanford Trauma Five Emergency Room. Additional care and treatments were provided to the victim while en route to the hospital. The victim stopped briefly in the ER before moving to the Cath Lab where the arterial blockage causing the heart attack was identified and removed. Awsome job to all involved!

Today our office received a letter of thanks from the State Department of Corrections Warden Darin Young regarding our response to a request for help at their location. Thank you Warden Young for your words of encouragement and praise. Life is precious. Together our teams were able to effect a positive outcome providing a testament to the effectiveness of the chain of survival in our system of care. This further fuels our passion to be ready for the next "Call for help". Again, Thank you.
