Have we mentioned lately that our volunteers are amazing? Because they are! Whether they're working to raise money for our programs on a deconstruction project or building safe, affordable homes alongside future homebuyers, they give it their all and have fun while doing it. A big thank you to our groups from Caliber, Citi, Dismas Charities, First International Bank & Trust, The Summit League SAAC and Wells Fargo for building a brighter community with us!

Meet future Millard Acres homebuyer, Mekdes!

Mekdes grew up in Ethiopia, attending college and working as a college registrar before moving to Sioux Falls in 2011. She works full-time at a local manufacturing company but has struggled to find affordable housing that fits her family's needs. As a single mom, it's unaffordable for her to purchase a home on the open market.

Now that she's in Habitat's Homeownership program, she's looking forward to building a safe, stable home for her two daughters. The girls are excited for their new home including the chance to finally get a pet.

You're invited to join us from 7:30-9 a.m. on June 24 as we host the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce's Morning Mingle event! Enjoy coffee, juice and a light breakfast while mingling with Chamber members and fellow Habitat supporters. Our volunteers truly Rocked the Block in Kingswood over the past two days! After painting, landscaping, repairing and more, five Kingswood homes have been revitalized and beautified. A big thank you to our wonderful volunteers from Wells Fargo, Realtor Association of the Sioux Empire and the community for taking time to lend a helping hand to our Kingswood neighbors. We had so much fun kicking off Rock the Block in Kingswood yesterday! Our wonderful volunteers from Sencore, Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Wells Fargo helped a local couple that needed assistance with landscaping and exterior cleanup projects. It's now a beautiful space, and we can't wait to see what we accomplish in Kingswood today!
