My name's Eric Leggett and I am running to represent the 15th District in South Dakota's House of Representatives. My parents are small business owners and they taught me both the value of hard work and integrity. I've been married to Amy, my high school sweetheart for 5 years. ice as an intern where I gained valuable experience. Transparency in government. Citizens need to be able to trust their legislators. A Republic only works when citizens can be fully confident in the integrity of their representatives.
2. Promoting an education system that is the envy of other states. Education is about far more than simply getting a job. While career readiness is important, I believe it is a secondary goal. We must teach our students to think for themselves. Thomas Jefferson believed an educated populace was the best defense against tyranny. I believe in teacher, parent and student oriented education. South Dakota is a small state, therefore, we have the opportunity to try many innovative programs and ideas with regards to education. I look forward to working with other legislators and stakeholders to create a stellar education system.
3. A prosperous economy
Recently South Dakota has passed a large number of tax and fee increases. District 15 has felt the impact of these new taxes and it has made it more difficult for working class families to get ahead. I will oppose regressive sales tax increases and I will oppose fees that disproportionately affect the working class.
