🎉 The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office officially welcomes Deputy Boyle, who was sworn in today and assigned to the Patrol Division.

We would also like to celebrate our new Court Security Officers:

All three will be attending the Law Enforcement Academy next week as they begin their journey toward becoming certified law enforcement officers.

On Friday we celebrated the retirement of Detective Marc Wynia after 24 years of dedicated service to the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office and the citizens of Minnehaha County.

Thank you, Marc, for your years of hard work, dedication, and commitment to serving others. We also thank your family for their support and sacrifice throughout your career.

Congratulations on your retirement, and best wishes in this next chapter!

The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office was honored to participate in the South Dakota Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics last week. ⭐️

Sgt. Bullis and Sgt. Dubbe were among a dedicated group of officers from agencies across the state who traveled through various communities, helping spread awareness of inclusion, courage, and community support.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run represents the “Flame of Hope,” symbolizing respect for the athletes, officers, and everyone who supports inclusion, determination, and perseverance. It serves as a reminder of what strong communities are truly about.

We are proud to support Special Olympics and the incredible athletes who inspire us all every day. 🔥

Day one of the 2026 Law Enforcement Appreciation Week, and we are so grateful to have Nefu with 605 Island Guy serve hundreds of amazing meals to officers and deputies, with the addition of delicious ice cream from the SDSU ice cream truck for dessert. Thank you so much for all your support!!

The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office is extending our full support to the Sioux Falls Police Department following today’s shooting that left an officer seriously injured.

The safety of our community and the men and women who protect it is our highest priority. We are grateful for the swift action of all agencies involved and for the continued support of the public as the investigation continues.

The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office conducted liquor compliance checks of area businesses that have alcohol sales licenses. These checks included businesses with either liquor or malt beverage licenses.

Residents are reporting letters that look like an official South Dakota Traffic Division Court Notice with threats of license suspension, collections, and a QR code to “pay immediately” being sent via text.

💡 Remember:
Real courts do NOT demand payment via QR codes, random links, or use threatening letters without proper legal service.

• Do NOT scan the QR code or send money
• Do NOT call numbers listed on the letter

Please share to warn others. Scammers rely on panic and urgency. Stay safe!
