🇺🇸 We Remember. We Honor. We Pray.
Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the first responders, service members, families, and countless others whose lives were forever changed.
Twenty-five years later, we remember the courage shown in the midst of tragedy and the way people came together to serve, sacrifice, and care for one another.
At the Union Gospel Mission, we are grateful for those who continue to faithfully serve our communities and our country.
Today, we pray for our nation, for the families who still carry the weight of that day, and for the peace and hope that can only be found in Jesus Christ.

🍎 Food Assistance for Seniors! 🍎
Feeding South Dakota offers the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), which provides nutritious food boxes to qualifying low-income seniors.
Feeding South Dakota will be joining us at the Union Gospel Mission tomorrow during our Food Box distribution from 1:00–4:00 PM to help seniors learn about the program and see if they qualify.
If you or a senior you know could use a little extra help with groceries, please stop by! Those who qualify can receive a CSFP food box.

Our doors were damaged, but our mission remains the same. ❤️

This morning, we arrived at Union Gospel Mission to find several windows and portions of our entrance at 701 E. 8th Street smashed overnight. At this time, we do not know who caused the damage.

This unexpected damage will require significant repairs, and we are asking our community for help. If you would like to give toward the cost of repairs, we would be incredibly grateful.

Broken glass will not stop us from caring for our community and sharing the hope of Jesus Christ.

The Union Gospel Mission started on March 17, 1900, at the same time that revivals were happening all around Sioux Falls!

In "Reaching Out - Lifting Up" by Roger Quam, he discusses the history of the UGM in Sioux Falls, stating:

The revivals were important because of the effect that changed lives had on their families, their neighborhoods, their churches, and their daily lives. When a man or woman gets right with God, they do what God wants them to do."

The Union Gospel Mission continues to thrive 126 years later, thanks to those early individuals who reached out to help their neighbors in need and the ongoing support from our current community members who serve as the hands and feet of Jesus!
