Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible late this afternoon into the evening. The better chances will be near highway 14. Heavy rain will also be a threat with these storms.

* At 1223 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 8 miles southeast
of Lawton, or 16 miles southeast of Sioux City, moving east at 25
mph.

HAZARD...Quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Damage to vehicles is expected.

Anthon around 1235 AM CDT.
Smithland around 1240 AM CDT.

Other locations impacted by this severe thunderstorm include Oto.

* At 1144 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Lawton, or 9
miles east of Sioux City, moving east at 25 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.

Developing showers will continue to lift out of Nebraska and gradually spread eastwards throughout the day. Accumulations will be mainly light. The weekend could bring some storms.

Tuesday Update: The one thing you'll notice today is a further uptick in temperatures, as we reach closer to the 90s and in some areas, move into the mid-90s.

While it's a very low chance, an isolated stronger storm or two may develop in SW Minnesota and far eastern South Dakota late this afternoon and evening. Smaller hail and brief gusty winds will be the main risks. Activity is not anticipated to be widespread.
