The Historic Heights neighborhood is located on the near Northside of Sioux City, Iowa, immediately west of Grandview Park and the Bandshell. Laid out in 1913 in accordance with a plan that viewed nature as neighbor and not as an enemy to be subjugated by some rectilinear grid, its wide setbacks and curving streets create remarkable vistas, which are punctuated by more than 90 homes of extraordina

ry and varied architecture. Sullivan pupil William Steele, including the Everist mansion, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. The neighborhood is proud of its cheerful diversity and the range of talented people who have chosen to live here.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Kent Martin. He and Greg Gregerson restored what used to be a neighborhood eyesore. Kent was also helpful with neighborhood reorganization when the streets were rebuilt 15 years ago. RIP
