Effective July 1, 2026, pursuant to the Texas House Bill 2844, mobile food unit operators will be required to obtain a new permit from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to continue operating in the state of Texas. Permits issued under San Patricio County Environmental Health prior to this date will no longer be valid for operation on or after July 1, 2026, and will not be grandfathered under the new law.

Please contact the Texas Department of State Health Services Retail Foods Division for further information regarding the application process at (512) 834 -6753 or you may contact our office at 361-587-3500, with any questions regarding your current mobile food unit permit.

San Patricio County is partnering with the Texas General Land Office and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to offer residents a FREE, voluntary opportunity to safely dispose of inoperable and derelict vessels through the Vessel Turn-In Program!
