⚡ Severe Weather Guide: Who to Call & When ⛈️
With severe thunderstorms pushing through our area, our emergency lines can get tied up incredibly fast. You can help keep our local dispatchers and first responders available for life-threatening emergencies by using the right numbers for the right situations.

Before picking up the phone, use this quick guide to determine the best course of action:
🚨 Call 911 Immediately For:
Life-Threatening Emergencies: Any active medical emergency, injury, or immediate danger to life.
Trees Down on Occupied Structures/Vehicles: If a tree hits a house or vehicle and people are trapped or injured.
Live Wires Down & Sparking: Any utility wires touching the ground, blocking a roadway, or actively sparking. Always treat down wires as live and dangerous.
Fire: Structural fires, lightning strikes causing fire, or brush fires started by downed lines.

📞 Call the Non-Emergency Number For:
Trees Down (NO Wires, NO Injuries): If a tree or large branch is blocking a local road but is not tangled in utility lines and has not caused injuries.
Property Damage (Delayed): Assessing minor, non-hazardous storm damage to property after the storm has safely passed.

🔌 Contact Your Power/Utility Company For:
Please do not call 911 or non-emergency dispatch to report a power outage or to ask when the power will come back on. Dispatchers do not have outage updates. Contact your provider directly:
To Report a Power Outage: Use your power company’s automated phone line, text alerts, or online outage map.
To Check Restoration Status: Monitor local utility maps for estimated restoration times.

⚠️ Storm Safety Reminder: If you see standing water on the roadways, turn around, don't drown. Avoid driving during the height of the storm if possible, and stay clear of any fallen debris until crews can safely clear it.
