Beauregard Parish Fire District One was honored to participate in the Health Fair at Merryville High School. This event allowed students the opportunity to visit with different career fields, ask questions, and gain knowledge about potential jobs and career paths after graduation.

During the event, Beauregard Parish Fire District One provided students with the opportunity to try on a full set of firefighter turnout gear, including boots, pants, hood, jacket, helmet, gloves, and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), giving them a firsthand look and feel of what firefighters wear during emergency incidents.

Students were also able to view and handle various pieces of firefighting and rescue equipment, including a Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC), battery-operated hydraulic extrication tools such as cutters and spreaders, and firefighting nozzles.

District Chief Devan Goodwin provided students with information regarding the areas covered by Beauregard Parish Fire District One, as well as what it takes to become a volunteer firefighter and serve the community.

District Chief Goodwin would like to thank Merryville High School and Beauregard Parish Health Unit for allowing Beauregard Parish Fire District One to participate in this valuable event and for investing in the future of local students and career development.

🚨 Public Notice – Controlled Burn 🚨

Beauregard Parish Fire District One would like to advise residents that a controlled burn will be taking place over the next few days in the area of S. Bearhead Rd and Hwy 389.

The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry will be conducting the burn, covering approximately 400 acres. Forestry personnel have equipment and water trucks on site to maintain control of the operation.

At this time, there is no immediate danger to the public. However, residents in the area may notice increased smoke and reduced visibility, especially during early morning and evening hours.

Please use caution when traveling in the area. This is a planned and managed operation.

If conditions change, updates will be provided.

Stay safe,

🚒 Did you know fire hydrants are color-coded for a reason?

Fire hydrants aren’t just painted randomly — their colors (or in our case, reflective bands) indicate how much water they can deliver during a fire.

These markings follow NFPA 291 standards for fire flow identification and help firefighters quickly determine available water supply on scene.

Within Beauregard Parish Fire District One’s jurisdiction, all hydrants are equipped with reflective bands to clearly identify their flow capacity:

🔴 Red Band – 0–499 Gallons Per Minute (GPM)
🟠 Orange Band – 500–999 GPM
🟢 Green Band – 1,000–1,499 GPM
🔵 Blue Band – 1,500+ GPM

These markings are especially critical during nighttime operations or low-visibility conditions, allowing crews to make rapid, informed decisions when every second counts.

Take a look next time you pass a hydrant — you might notice something you didn’t before.

Beauregard Parish Fire District One would like to advise the public that the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry is currently conducting a controlled burn in the Oretta area South of Singer.

Residents can expect to see and smell smoke in the area for the next few days as a result of this operation. This is a planned and monitored burn conducted for forest management and safety purposes.

Please use caution when traveling through the area, as visibility may be reduced at times due to smoke. If you have any concerns, do not hesitate to contact local authorities.

We appreciate your awareness and cooperation.

🔥 Outdoor Burning Safety Reminder 🔥

Beauregard Parish Fire District One would like to remind the citizens of our communities to use extreme caution with any outdoor burning when winds are high, like we are experiencing today.

While there is currently no burn ban in effect, windy conditions can cause fires to spread quickly and become difficult to control. Even small debris piles can escape and lead to grass, brush, or structure fires when gusty winds are present.

For everyone’s safety, we strongly recommend waiting to burn any debris until the winds die down and conditions are safer. Taking a little extra time can help prevent unnecessary fires and protect your property, your neighbors, and our firefighters.

Thank you for helping keep Beauregard Parish safe and for always supporting your local firefighters. 🚒

🚒 Community Appreciation Post 🚒

Beauregard Parish Fire District One would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the citizens of our district for your cooperation during the burn ban that was in effect from February 23, 2026 through March 9, 2026.

Because of the responsibility and cooperation shown by our community, our department did not respond to a single unauthorized burn during this time. That level of compliance speaks volumes about the pride our residents take in protecting Beauregard Parish and looking out for one another.

When conditions create a higher risk for wildfires, it takes everyone working together to keep our parish safe. Your willingness to follow the burn ban helped prevent potential fires, protected property, and supported the safety of our firefighters and neighbors.

We are proud to serve such a supportive and safety-minded community. Thank you for doing your part and helping keep Beauregard Parish safe.

Stay safe, and thank you for continuing to support your local firefighters. 🔥🚒
