Simmesport Volunteer Fire Department joins the fire service community in honoring and remembering Marksville Fire Chief Jerry Bordelon as he was laid to rest yesterday.

Members of our department were proud to take part in paying tribute to Chief Bordelon by assisting with Honor guard duties, Firefighter Cory Mixon, Captain Joe Jackson, and Chief Cody Jackson.

Firefighter Tyler Voiselle and Captain Joe Jackson also assisted by manning the Marksville fire station so their members could be in attendance.

Simmesport Chief Cody Jackson, who serves full-time with the Marksville Fire Department, had the great honor of performing the Last Call for Chief Jerry Bordelon.

Please continue to keep Chief Bordelon’s family, loved ones, and his fire family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

We are beyond grateful for the overwhelming support shown during our fundraiser!

Thank you to everyone who donated, made baked goods, bought tickets, volunteered their time, lended a helping hand, shared our posts, and supported us in any way possible. Because of this amazing community, our fundraiser was a huge success — even selling out of 915 plate lunches!

The generosity, encouragement, and support from each and every one of you truly means the world to us. Events like this would not be possible without our incredible sponsors, volunteers, and community standing behind us.
