Simi Valley Neighborhood Councils are Recruiting for Executive Board Member Positions



Simi Valley, Calif. – The City of Simi Valley is accepting applications from community members who can offer a variety of perspectives and experiences for Neighborhood Council Executive Board member positions.



Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and a resident of Simi Valley. The City Council will appoint successful candidates to serve a two-year term from March 1, 2027, to February 28, 2029. Applications are due by Thursday, November 19, 2026.



“Neighborhood Councils give residents a real opportunity to help shape the future of Simi Valley. We encourage anyone who is passionate about their community to apply and share their voice,” said Deputy Environmental Services Director Cynthia McCullough.



The Neighborhood Councils meet monthly to:

Advise the City Council and Planning Commission on resident concerns, development projects, and other matters on which the City Council has specifically requested their input;
Give residents the opportunity to share their concerns and ask questions about their neighborhood and the City; and
Give developers the opportunity to engage with residents and address concerns early in the planning process.

Simi Valley Residents Invited to Free Residential Cleanup and Recycling Day

Simi Valley, Calif. – A free residential clean-up and recycling day is available to all Simi Valley residents. It will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center located at 2801 N. Madera Road. This free landfill day is a great resource for disposing of unwanted items and helps to prevent illegal dumping.

Simi Valley residents must provide proof of residency, such as a driver’s license or waste and recycling bill with a Simi Valley address. A household may dispose of up to two loads. A maximum of five non-commercial passenger-vehicle or pickup tires may be dropped off.

In addition to the residential clean-up and recycling event, residents may pick up free compost at the landfill. Residents will be limited to two bags of compost. Please bring sturdy trash bags or a trash can, a shovel, and a strong pair of gloves. Residents will be required to pack and transport their own compost.

Participants are asked to separate recyclables from refuse to facilitate recycling. Loads must be covered during transport to prevent litter. No commercial waste, commercial vehicles, hazardous waste, electronics, liquids, household batteries, products containing mercury (such as thermometers and thermostats), or fluorescent light bulbs are allowed.

Household hazardous waste materials are not accepted at this event. In addition to the Residential Cleanup and Recycling Day, free Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection events are held on the third Saturday of every other month and are available by appointment only to residents of Simi Valley and Moorpark.
