The Town of Silverton is issuing a public advisory to alert community members about an email scam involving a fraudulent impersonation of the Town. Scammers are contacting individuals using the email: [email protected], which closely resembles our legitimate email domain: .co.us.

So far, the Town knows of only previous Land Use Applicants being contacted, using details from application submittals to create the false appearance of legitimacy. The intent appears to be financial fraud, including attempts to obtain payments.

The Town is taking immediate steps to address the issue.

Protect yourself from scammers by ensuring communications claiming to be from The Town of Silverton come from the correct domain: .co.us. Any variation, including hyphens, added letters, or alternate spellings, should be reported.

If you receive an unexpected request involving payments, please contact the Town directly using verified phone numbers or email addresses from the town’s website.

If you believe you have received fraudulent communication: Do not respond to the sender. Do not provide any information. Do not click any suspicious links. Report the incident to The Town of Silverton immediately.

If you need assistance or wish to report suspicious communication, please contact The Town of Silverton through the verified contact information listed on townofsilverton.colorado.gov or by phone at 970-387-5522.
