**Urban stormwater is hot, fast, and dirty.** And, as the presenter added, “Just the way we like our dates.” 😂

That memorable lesson came at the dedication of Parkside Plaza’s new bioretention ponds, designed to protect Sligo Creek from parking lot runoff.

We all have a part to play. Montgomery County’s RainScapes program offers rebates for rain gardens, conservation landscaping, rain barrels and other ways to manage stormwater at home.

Silver Spring Village features "Stitchers for Good" a monthly knitting/needlework group that makes scarves, caps, blankets, etc. for those in need. So, not just "good" for others, but "good" for your brain!

"I'd like to share a special announcement that our very own Patricia Tyson will be honored as a 2026 African American Living Legend as part of the County's 29th annual Juneteenth celebration!

She is one of eight awardees at this year's ceremony, which will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, at the BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown (12901 Town Commons Drive). The Juneteenth celebration will continue from 1–10 p.m., featuring cultural performances, educational exhibits, community activities, vendors, and family-friendly entertainment.

County Executive Marc Elrich will present the Living Legend Awards to this year’s honorees. The Living Legend Awards recognize individuals whose lifetime achievements have strengthened Montgomery County through leadership, public service, advocacy, education, faith, business, and community engagement. The ceremony is free and open to the public. Seating is limited.

It’s almost our birthday! We would love to celebrate the 30th anniversary of our Bonifant location with all those who made this possible.
