Great new resoruce for rural communities! PLACES is a collaboration between CDC, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the CDC Foundation. PLACES provides health data for small areas across the country. This allows local health departments and jurisdictions, regardless of population size and rurality, to better understand the burden and geographic distribution of health measures in their areas and assist them in planning public health interventions.

PLACES provides model-based, population-level analysis and community estimates of health measures to all counties, places (incorporated and census-designated places), census tracts, and ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs) across the United States.

The PLACES Project is an extension of the original 500 Cities Project.

Our FORWARD Area Health Education Center hosts the Dream Makers Health Careers program at Silver High School. Recently students in the program learned how to check and monitor vital signs.

Happy Birthday, New Mexico! Our state was founded 112 years ago, way back in 1912 when the US Congress finally admitted New Mexico into the union as the 47th state. Though it had been eligible for statehood for 60 years prior, racism and inequity delayed our state from being admitted to the union.
