Yesterday was another wonderful day of good food, great volunteers, and community taking care of community! 🫶 We want to send a huge THANK YOU to all of the volunteers who gave their time and energy to help prepare, serve, and clean up after another completely FREE community meal at the OASIS. 🙌❤️

🕚 We served from 11:00 AM–4:00 PM, offering two freshly cooked entrées and plenty of homemade sides and treats!

🍽️ YESTERDAY’S MENU:
🐔🧀 Chicken Nugget Parmesan — crispy chicken nuggets topped with savory sauce and melted cheese on a bed of penne pasta
🥦🍅 Vegetable Parmesan — a meat-free alternative prepared fresh for our vegetarian unhoused neighbors
🥗 Fresh Tossed Salad — topped with shredded cheese and crunchy croutons, with your choice of creamy Ranch or Italian dressing
🥖🧄 Monastery-Baked Garlic Parmesan Bread — fresh bread made by Our Lady of Guadalupe Benedictine Monastery in Pinos Altos, seasoned by us with garlic, butter, and a dash of Parmesan cheese
🎃🍪 Home-Baked Pumpkin-Shaped Sugar Cookies — a festive little taste of fall to finish the meal
🥤 Southern Sweet Tea — cold, sweet, and ready to wash it all down!

These meals don't magically appear on the table. It takes people willing to shop, cook, prep, serve, wash dishes, clean up, welcome guests, and do all the little things in between. We couldn't do it without you! ❤️

Our FREE Sunday Massage Clinic is underway today at Silver City Street Outreach! 🌿❤️

⏰ SIGN-UPS HAVE ALREADY STARTED, AND WE ONLY HAVE A COUPLE OF SLOTS LEFT!

If you’ve been thinking about coming by, now’s the time. These remaining appointments are first come, first served, and once they’re gone, they’re gone for the day.

Today, Silver City Street Outreach at the OASIS is joining communities across the country for Save A Life Day—a day dedicated to putting lifesaving tools, education, and overdose-prevention resources directly into people's hands. Naloxone saves lives, drug-checking supplies help people make more informed decisions, rescue breathing can keep oxygen moving during an overdose, and knowing what to do in an emergency can make all the difference. 💜

The need remains very real. According to CDC final mortality data, the United States experienced its highest annual number of fatal drug overdoses in 2022, with 107,941 deaths. Although overdose deaths have since declined nationally, provisional 2025 data show that New Mexico had an age-adjusted all-drug overdose death rate of 46.5 deaths per 100,000 people and an opioid overdose death rate of 33.9 per 100,000—both the highest rates in the nation in that dataset.

⏱️ Each session is 30 minutes

Our massage clinic has become increasingly popular, so arriving at 2:00 PM gives you the best chance of getting a spot. Four 30-minute massages also mean two solid hours of physically demanding hands-on work for our volunteer therapist, so we limit the clinic to four sessions each Sunday. 💜
