🚀 Your voice belongs in the rooms where decisions are being shaped, and we’re helping make sure it’s represented.

You may remember that our Executive Director, Andrea Freile, Deputy Director, Kiara Aranda, and eight LatinxEd Fellows serve on the Governor’s Advisory Council on Latino Affairs, and they've been diligently working on bringing what they hear and learn in community into the Council’s work and recommendations.

📍As the Council has traveled across the state, including Western North Carolina and most recently Charlotte, we’ve been excited to see even more Fellows, partners, and allies attend meetings and join the conversation, uplifting local priorities, inviting others to participate, and showing what community advocacy looks like in action.

🌱 And that’s the bigger picture: it’s not just about who has a seat at the table, but who we bring into the conversation with us. Seeing you, our community and partners, step into these spaces with us is how we continue building Latine leadership that reaches from our local communities to the statewide level.

🧡 Some of the best relationships are the ones that grow alongside the work.

For years, LatinxEd and the Kenan Fellows Program have connected through our shared commitment to educators and their leadership, so it was extra special to celebrate 25 years of investing in educators alongside them!

🌱 Our Assistant Director of Communications, Brenda Medina, spent the day connecting with Kenan Fellows, educators, and school leaders, hearing about their experiences and joining conversations on teacher leadership, the future of education.

¡Felicidades, Kenan Fellows Program, on 25 years! We’re grateful for the relationship we’ve built over the years and excited for all that’s still ahead.

🧡 And just like that…meet the final 9 Fellows of our 2026 cohort!

39 leaders. Countless stories, sueños, experience and reasons for saying yes to this journey. Over the coming months, they’ll learn alongside one another, build meaningful relationships, and discover what becomes possible when we bring our collective wisdom together.

✨ Get to know our final Fellows, and revisit the full 2026 cohort, on LinkedIn, where we’re sharing more about the people behind this year’s Fellowship.

🎉Help us celebrate Kiara Aranda, LatinxEd’s new Deputy Director!

For four years, Kiara has helped shape LatinxEd, strengthening our programs, supporting our people, building relationships across North Carolina, and helping us imagine what’s possible for our organization and our communities.

Today, we’re excited to celebrate what so many of us already know: Kiara is an extraordinary leader, and LatinxEd is stronger because of commitment and leadership.

In her new role as Deputy Director, Kiara will help connect strategy across teams, advance organizational priorities, and serve as second-in-command for the organization helping guide LatinxEd into its next chapter.

This promotion reflects not only where LatinxEd is going, but the role Kiara has already played in getting us here.

🧡¡Felicidades, Kiara!

🔥Different generations. Different journeys. One comunidad.

The LatinxEd Fellowship brings together leaders across generations and stages of life each carrying their own experiences, wisdom, and vision for what’s possible.

🌱 That’s part of what makes this network so powerful: learning across generations, sharing what we know, and creating space for each other to grow and learn from one another.

🌱 Being rooted in community means taking time to understand the landscape before we ask questions.

Last week, our team spent the day in Forsyth County learning alongside the City of Winston-Salem’s Human Relations Department and Community Engagement Unit, Padres en Acción, the Winston-Salem Police Department, and other community partners. Together, we explored the places, systems, and community strengths shaping young people’s experiences from education and employment to housing and public safety.

🦋 We’ve heard from local leaders. Now, we want to hear from you, the parents and young people of Forsyth County, who are living these experiences every day.

Join us for Forsyth Dreams, a community listening session co-hosted with Padres en Acción:
