As we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day weekend, we encourage everyone to pause and honor/remember the brave men and women who died service this country. May their courage, sacrifice and dedication to protecting our precious freedoms never be forgotten. May we freflect on their sacrifice with heartfelt gratitude. On Monday (Memorial Day) at 3:00 pm local time, the National Moment of Remembrance will occur. Americans are asked to pause for one minute to reflect upon, honor and remember the sacrifices of the fallen. Altrusa International District Eight

At our recent May meeting, we got to do one of our favorite things - present a scholarship to one of the ASTRA members. This year's recipient was Harper Curry. She received a $500 scholarship from Altrusa for her service through ASTRA and her academic success. Congratulations, Harper! ASTRA chair, Terry Eakins, made the presentation.
