Work is expected this year to complete the rail trail network along Linn St. out to Veterans Park. This is funded in part through a Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) Transportaion Alternatives Program (TAP) grant. Construction has been delayed while drainage improvements are completed along Linn St. ditch. Work is anticipated to begin shortly after completion of the ditch improvements.

UPDATE: @ 2:54P - Power has been restored. Winds caused a power line to contact a streetlight pole, resulting in the power blinks and outages experienced in the area.

Our crews responded quickly, identified the issue, and made the necessary repairs to safely restore service. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We appreciate your support as we work to keep your power reliable and safe.

OUTAGE: @ 2:30P - Crews have been dispatched and are investigating. The issue appears to be intermittent, and the wind may be a contributing factor. We will provide updates as they become available.

ROAD CLOSURE
Lillian Drive at Applegate Blvd. will be closed to through traffic beginning today at 8:00 AM until tomorrow at 5:00 PM due to road construction. Fronabarger Construction of Oak Ridge MO, is completing the work for the City of Sikeston. All motorists are encouraged to use extreme caution in the work area and to seek alternative routes.

JOB OPPORTUNITY: SKILLED WORKER/STREET DIVISION
If you enjoy working outdoors this job is for you! The responsibilities range from general grounds keeping to construction/building maintenance to heavy equipment operation. Applicants with construction knowledge or general knowledge of landscaping techniques preferred.

A valid Missouri driver’s license is required with the ability to qualify for a Class B, Commercial Drivers License with air brakes and tanker classifications. Applicants should be willing to work overtime or irregular hours, as needed. Applicant will be required to live within thirty (30) miles of Sikeston city limits within one year of hiring.

Starting pay for an Entry Level Maintenance Worker is $18.12/hour. Upon successful completion of training and upon department head recommendation, the compensation will be increased to $19.12/hour. In addition, employees are eligible for a merit increase at the end of one year. Benefits include 80% employer paid health insurance for employee and dependents , life insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 100% paid retirement , 457 deferred compensation, cafeteria plan, 14 paid holidays, paid vacation, and sick leave. Airport Notice: Runway Resurface Project
Beginning MONDAY, JUNE 22, the Sikeston Municipal Airport (KSIK) will undergo a runway resurface project. Weather permitting, this project is expected to take 30 days.
During this time, the airport will be closed to all aircraft operations. Please plan your travel and maintenance schedules accordingly.
