February is Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution Month
Currently, there are millions of individuals worldwide who have been displaced due to armed conflict or persecution. Shockingly, 90% of the casualties in these conflicts are innocent civilians, with half of them being children. The Rotary family is dedicated to combating these crisis’ through service projects and various Rotary programs and action groups.
One of the primary objectives of the Rotary family is to address the underlying causes of conflict, such as poverty, inequality, ethnic tension, lack of education, and unequal distribution of resources. Rotarians actively train adults and young leaders in conflict prevention and mediation techniques, as well as provide assistance to refugees who have fled dangerous areas.
In the month of February, Rotary Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution Month, we come together to celebrate our unwavering commitment to promoting peace and mitigating conflict. We encourage all Rotary members to utilise this time to collaborate, share ideas, and access valuable resources that will aid in the planning of peace-building projects at the club district and cluster levels.
