Twenty-five years have passed, but we have not forgotten.

Today, the Sierra Madre Police Department, Sierra Madre Fire Department, and members of our community gathered together to pause, reflect, and remember the lives forever changed on September 11, 2001.

We remember the innocent lives taken too soon. We remember the first responders who ran toward danger when others were running away. We remember the families who said goodbye that morning, never knowing it would be their last. And we hold close those who continue to carry the memories and pain of that day.

Though the years continue to pass, their lives, their courage, and their sacrifice remain in our hearts.

Today and always, we remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Congratulations to Officer Gallegos and Officer Fisher on earning their FAA Remote Pilot Operator License! 🎉

With this certification, they’ll be taking SMPD to new heights by utilizing our department drones as another tool to help keep Sierra Madre safe. From conducting extra patrols in our downtown area and assisting officers on calls for service, to helping locate missing hikers and more, our drones give officers an extra set of eyes when they need them most.

Thank you, Officer Gallegos and Officer Fisher, for going the extra mile—or should we say, the extra altitude—to bring another valuable resource to our community! 👮‍♂️🚁

With the recent increase in catalytic converter thefts, our officers are conducting extra patrols, making traffic stops, and staying vigilant throughout our community.

We’re doing our part—and we need your help too. Stay alert, look out for your neighbors, and report suspicious activity.

Today marked the first meeting of our Sierra Madre Police Explorer Program, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome our newest Explorers!

Every great leader starts somewhere. There will be mistakes, challenges, and plenty of lessons along the way—but that’s exactly why our Explorer Advisors are here. Through mentorship, training, and encouragement, they’ll help these young men and women build confidence, develop leadership skills, and grow into the best version of themselves.

Success starts with showing up. Today, they did just that. We can’t wait to watch them learn, grow, and succeed. Welcome to the SMPD Explorer family!
