Today, we came together as a community to remember a day that forever changed our nation.

Twenty-five years ago, on September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 lives were lost, including 343 firefighters and 72 law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice while answering the call to help others.

This morning, the Sierra Madre Fire Department was honored to gather with our community, City staff, first responders, and local leaders for our 9/11 Remembrance Program.

Together, we paused to remember those who lost their lives, honor the courage and sacrifice of our first responders, and reflect on the strength and unity our nation showed in the days that followed.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

On Wednesday, September 9, the Sierra Madre Fire Department responded with neighboring agencies to a residential structure fire in the 400 block of N. Michillinda Avenue in Pasadena.

Fire and EMS resources from Pasadena, Arcadia, and Sierra Madre responded to the incident.

No occupants were home at the time of the fire. During firefighting operations, SMFD Firefighter Johnson located and rescued the homeowner’s dog from inside the residence. 🐶❤️ Firefighters immediately provided the dog with oxygen and cooling measures before it was transported to Pasadena Humane for further evaluation and care.

While Sierra Madre crews remained committed to the incident, a San Gabriel Fire Department engine was assigned to Sierra Madre to provide coverage for our community.

A big THANK YOU to San Gabriel Fire Department for stepping up, sending an engine to Sierra Madre, and helping watch over our city while our crews were committed to the incident!

The Sierra Madre Fire Department invites our community to join us as we come together to remember the lives lost, honor the first responders who answered the call, and recognize the courage and sacrifice that will never be forgotten.
