Shelby County Victim Services SCVS mission to reduce the trauma of crime by providing information, support, & advocacy to victims

06/02/2023

Our partner agency joining us yesterday at HITS 105.5 FM was Cindy Smith, Advocate from Shelby County Victim Services. Cindy shared how they help reduce the trauma of crime by providing information, support, & advocacy to victims and their families in a courteous and compassionate atmosphere, 24 hours a day 7 days a week. At no cost to the crime victim, the advocates make sure they are aware of their rights and that they receive sensitive treatment throughout the criminal justice process. They also provide a trained therapist to address any needs they may have from the trauma. There were over 740 crime victims in Shelby County in 2022 and many of them were children. Thank you Victim Services for all you do for our community! For more information you can call their office at (937) 498-7400 Mon-Fri 8:30am-4pm.

There is also a crisis text line, Text 4HOPE to 741741, it is a free, 24/7 text line for people in crisis.

We can all help prevent su***de. Every year, the Lifeline and other mental health organizations and individuals across the U.S. and around the world raise awareness of su***de prevention during September, National Su***de Prevention Month.

Thank you to all the law enforcement in Sidney and Shelby County, we appreciate all that you do!
