The virtual format allowed residents to participate from home, making the information session more accessible to the community while allowing the City and Amazon to address questions and concerns from a broader audience. Step Inside Sidney’s Historic Municipal Courtroom!

As part of the upcoming Building Tour – The Municipal Courtroom: A Dedication to the Civil War Soldiers, take a step inside one of Sidney’s most historic spaces.

Located in the Monumental Building, the Municipal Courtroom was originally built after the Civil War as a dedication to Shelby County soldiers who lost their lives in the conflict. The beautiful courtroom was once an opera house in the 1870s and still features its stunning domed ceilings and ornate architecture.

During the tour, you’ll also see murals depicting a Civil War story, and visitors can stop by the Veterans Services office on the first floor to view memorial plaques honoring Shelby County residents who died during the Civil War.
