Shelby Soil and Water Conservation District

Shelby Soil and Water Conservation District Our Mission is to Provide Leadership, Education, and Technical Assistance in Natural Resource Conservation To The Citizens of Shelby County.

Who are We?
- A legally organized subdivision of the state of Ohio located within the same boundaries as Shelby County, Ohio.
- An organization responsible for the promotion of the conservation and development of natural resources within Shelby County with special emphasis on soil and water, and for providing assistance to landowners with the planning and application of Conservation practices on their land.
- An organization that receives funding from the State of Ohio through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Soil & Water Conservation, and from the Shelby County Commissioners.

We had a great time with KiddieLand Learning Center summer campers yesterday at Tawawa Park. The kids learned about pollinators and the importance of providing habitat for these wonderful creatures. They then did an activity from Project WILD to learn about pollination (Busy Bees, Busy Blooms). We ended our time making some observations at the edge of the new pollinator area near Geib Pavilion.

We saw lots of bees 🐝, beetles, flies, dragon flies, native flowers, goldfinches, and even a white-tailed deer!

Within the next year we will add a walking path through the pollinator area including informational signs!
