‼️DEPUTY SPOTLIGHT‼️
School Resource Officer/Deputy Logan Roberts
How long have you been with the Sheriff’s Office? What are your roles at the Sheriff’s Office?
I began working for the Sheriff’s Office in August of 2022 and immediately took on the role of School Resource Officer (SRO). Prior to working with the Sheriff’s Office I was a teacher, so I felt very comfortable being in the school setting and working with students. I also work as the K9 handler for K9 Sally, our Crisis Response Therapy K9, lead the Fremont County Cadet program, defensive tactics instructor, and work as a patrol deputy when needed.
What is the proudest moment/story as a Deputy?
There’s not one singular moment that stands out to me above the rest. A combination of the growth and success that I’ve seen over the years from students has been some of the best moments for me. I always enjoy witnessing and sharing with students some of the great things that they are accomplishing! Creating positive relationships with students and having positive experiences with students has been some of the proudest moments of my career.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
I like to be active and always going when I’m not at work. Outside of work I coach football, wrestling, and track as well as some summer speed/agility training. I really enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, and playing with my dogs, Stang and Sally.
Why did you choose law enforcement for your career path?
I always wanted to be in a career where I could interact with people, set an example, and make a difference in the community. In high school, I had the opportunity to participate in a cadet program similar to the one we have at Fremont County that really sparked my interest. While in college and during my time teaching I worked as a Reserve Police Officer before finally deciding to make it a full-time career. Ultimately, not only as the SRO, I saw law enforcement as a positive way to give back to the community, engage with different people every day, and potentially make a positive impact on those around me.
As our SRO, how do your roles differ from other Deputies?
The primary focus while working our Fremont County schools is safety. I work closely with our schools to promote a safe and welcoming environment for all of our students, staff, and visitors. In the pursuit of promoting safety, many interactions with students are approached from an educational standpoint. Whether positive or negative we do our best to look at every situation and find a way to learn, educate, and ultimately be safe while at school. Honestly, the role of an SRO is not much different from a patrol deputy. The individuals, patrol area, and interactions are what make the role of SRO different.
What is your favorite part of being our SRO?
Much like teaching (and police work), every day is an adventure that presents new and sometimes interesting challenges. Through these different experiences, I like finding ways to assist the schools in helping students and families navigate any circumstances that they encounter and I like that I get to come to work every day to something new. Another great part of being the SRO is all the amazing people I have the opportunity to interact with throughout the day. I enjoy working with the staff at each school district, getting to know the students and families, and being a small part of each community. The relationships that are built through this position are extremely rewarding as well!
We appreciate Deputy Roberts and all the hard work he puts in at the schools, as well as the Sheriff’s Office!
