* At 241 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Ansonia,
moving southeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

IMPACT...Expect damage to trees and power lines.

Piqua, Greenville, Versailles, Covington, Newport, Bradford, Union
City, Pleasant Hill, Ansonia, Webster, Russia, Gettysburg, North

Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to

🚨 Shelby County is included in Governor Mike DeWine’s request for a Presidential Disaster Declaration related to the storms and flooding that impacted Ohio in August.

📋 At this point, we will need to wait to see whether the declaration is approved and what the next steps will be. We will continue to share information and updates as they become available.

Today, I sent a letter to President Donald Trump requesting a Presidential Major Damage Declaration for 23 counties impacted by last month's severe storms, flooding, straight-line winds, and tornadoes.

Federal assistance will be critical in helping Ohioans recover and move forward with their lives.

These storms resulted in a disaster of such severity and magnitude that it exceeds the capabilities of the State of Ohio, local governments, and disaster relief organizations to provide comprehensive support.

HEAT ADVISORY is in effect from 2 PM Tuesday through 11 PM Wednesday for portions of Ohio, including Shelby County.

🌡️ Heat index values up to 103°F are expected.

🥵 Hot temperatures and high humidity can cause heat-related illnesses. Please take precautions:

💧 Drink plenty of fluids
❄️ Stay in air conditioning when possible
🌤️ Stay out of the sun when possible
👕 Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing
🏃 Limit strenuous activities, especially during the hottest part of the day
