• On June 1st, an officer was struck by a vehicle following an armed robbery at the U.S. Post Office located at 7217 Watson Road.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect vehicle had just fled the scene of an armed robbery on the Post Office loading dock at the rear of the Post Office. A Shrewsbury Officer, unaware that the armed robbery had not yet been reported, attempted to stop the vehicle for a traffic offense. As the officer approached, the driver suddenly reversed the vehicle and then accelerated directly toward the officer, striking him and throwing him onto the hood before he fell onto the pavement. The suspect then fled the area.
A second Shrewsbury officer, who witnessed the assault, initiated a pursuit but ultimately lost sight of the suspect vehicle after it crossed into Illinois.
The injured officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment and was later released with minor injuries.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is asked to contact the Shrewsbury Police Department Detective Bureau at 314-647-5656 and reference Report #26-427.
Information related to the Post Office robbery can be called in confidentially to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service at 877-876-2455, referencing case number 4724602.

• Again on June 3rd, a driver made an illegal right turn at a red light on Ravensridge onto Laclede Station Road right in front of an officer in a fully marked police car. Bold move when your driver’s license is revoked, which the officer, eager to introduce himself, discovered upon making the traffic stop. People jail is getting full.
• On June 5th, an officer conducted a traffic stop near Watson and Mackenzie on a vehicle displaying expired plates. The officer learned the driver did not have a driver’s license, nor insurance. After several close calls this week, this driver was recognized accordingly for the TRAFFIC TRIFECTA. He went to people jail. Car went to car jail.
• On June 5th, officers responded to Walmart for an employee theft report. While on scene the known suspect fled on foot. During the foot pursuit an officer was injured, adding a slew of charges to what could have been originally only misdemeanor stealing. She is being sought. The injured officer was treated for injuries and released from the hospital.
• On June 6th, an officer conducted a traffic stop near Watson and Mackenzie on a vehicle displaying an obviously fake temp tag, which the officer confirmed. The driver also had no driver license, but surprisingly did have insurance, barely dodging the traffic trifecta. Still got arrested though.
• On June 7, officers were dispatched to Sky Zone, 7375 Watson Road, in reference to a disturbance involving a large number of juveniles, who had shown up for an advertised 6/7 event. A large portion of those were unaccompanied juveniles waiting in line outside. Numerous fights broke out in a matter of minutes, drawing more people via social media who came to the scene to join in. We’re certain most of you have seen, heard or read the reports on this incident. While we appreciate those of you who read our Crime Summary for the humor, there was no humor in this incident. We are thankful no one was injured, including Sky Zone employees, patrons, and all First Responders. We have since met with the managers of Sky Zone, who are eager to work closely together with us moving forward to ensure that patrons of their establishment, as well as surrounding businesses feel safe coming to our great City for a fun, enjoyable time. Parents! Be aware that the Shrewsbury Sky Zone does not allow children under the age of 18 to enter without the continued accompaniment of an adult. DO NOT drop your kids off and leave, or uber them to this location on their own. They will be turned away, and you are responsible for their behavior. Sky Zone is not responsible for the actions of your children.
We are extremely grateful for the swift assistance of all the other police agencies, Terry’s Towing, and our own Shrewsbury Fire Department.
In addition to these reports, between June 1st – June 7th, Shrewsbury officers also responded to 8 auto accidents, 4 disturbances, 6 suspicious activity calls, and 3 theft calls. We assisted the Fire Department with 28 calls and conducted 55 traffic stops.
