As the 25th anniversary of September 11th winds down, it’s hard not to reflect on the courage and heroism that emerged from that day’s horrific acts.

Today, we joined the Shrewsbury, MA Police Department and our community to pause, reflect, and honor those whose lives were lost on September 11, 2001.

We will never forget those who died and those who ran toward danger to save a life.

We will always remember.

Eng. 3 was returning from a call this afternoon and came upon a 3 car motor vehicle crash on Rt. 20 east bound. SPD and Worcester EMS were immediately dispatched to the scene to assist Eng. 3’s company. Lovey’s Towing cleared the roadway and PD reopened all lanes within 1/2 hour.

This afternoon, SFD received a call for a mercury spill that was found outside a residence. E-3 and Car 3 responded and confirmed the substance to be mercury. The Mass. State Hazmat team responded for proper containment, clean up, and metering of the interior/exterior of residence with no hazard remaining after clean up.

The Department is celebrating the 100th birthday of our American LaFrance fire engine. The truck was delivered to town on July 29, 1926. It is currently in the process of refurbishment and is starting to be reassembled. Funding for the project is provided by the CPC.
