What a morning. 💜
Thank you to everyone who showed up, laced up, and ran/walked with us at the 2026 Shrewsbury Pride 5K. The energy, the color, the community, you all made it everything we hoped for.
A heartfelt thank you to our presenting sponsor State Representative Hannah Kane, our incredible gold, silver, and bronze sponsors, and every family and individual who gave to make this day possible.
To our host, the First Congregational Church of Shrewsbury, and our race photographer Prism Point Photography, thank you for capturing the joy.
This event is exactly what it set out to be: an intentionally inclusive space where people come together to have fun, be active, and stand with our + community. All are welcome here, always. 🏳️‍🌈
See you next year. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Happy Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈
To every person who has ever wondered if they truly belong, you do. Fully, exactly as you are.
At SYFS, we believe that feeling safe and accepted isn't a luxury. It's the foundation of mental health. This month, and every month, we're here for all the young people and families in our community.

This is what mental health support looks like.
A child. A prompt. Two simple words: “I am.”
And then, without hesitation, a list of everything they know themselves to be. Caring. Funny. Friendly. Strong.

That kind of self-knowledge doesn’t happen by accident. It grows in spaces where children feel safe, seen, and encouraged to know their own worth.

That’s what we work toward every single day at SYFS. Not just helping children through their hardest moments, but helping them build the foundation that carries them through everything that comes after.
To the child who drew this, thank you for reminding us why this work matters. 💙

11 days left. That’s it!

The Esler Family Foundation is matching every new and increased gift to SYFS, dollar for dollar, up to $2,500. But only through May 31.

That means if you have ever thought about giving to SYFS, right now your dollar does twice the work. And if you’ve given before, giving a little more means every new dollar gets matched in full.

We are so close to making the most of this opportunity, but we need new dollars to make it happen.
Don’t let this one pass by.

We are still thinking about the words Sean Astin shared with our community at the Resilience Reception.
You may know Sean from roles that have come to define resilience on screen. The underdog who refuses to quit, the loyal friend who carries others even when the road gets impossibly hard. It turns out those roles aren’t so far from who he is off screen.
Sean shared his own story with us- growing up with a mother who struggled with mental illness, what it felt like as a child to carry that without the language or support to make sense of it, and why he has spent so much of his life since making sure others don’t have to do the same.

His message was clear: talking about mental health openly, especially with and for young people, isn’t weakness. It’s the most important thing we can do.

Thank you, Sean, for lending your voice, your story, and your heart to SYFS and to the families we serve. We are grateful beyond words. 💙

Asking for help is one of the bravest things a child can do.
But they can only do it if the adults around them make it safe to try.
This Mental Health Awareness Month, we're reminded that early support changes outcomes. A child who feels heard, believed, and guided toward help today, is a child better equipped to navigate life's challenges tomorrow.

At SYFS, that's exactly what we show up to do, every single day.

If your child is struggling, or if you're not sure but something feels off, trust that instinct. Reach out. We're here.
