There are names a school never stops carrying.

Today, on the 25th anniversary of September 11, Caddo Parish Magnet High School honored two of its own, Lt. Cmdr. Jonas Kelsall and Senior Chief Petty Officer Robert Reeves.

They were Mustangs, lifelong friends, and Navy SEALs who answered the call to serve their country and lost their lives in Afghanistan in 2011.

Today, their families returned to the school they once called home as a new memorial mural was unveiled in their honor.

U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson joined the ceremony, spending time with the Kelsall and Reeves families and hearing more about the men behind the uniforms.

Twenty-five years after 9/11, we remember not only a day that changed our nation, but those who answered its call.

Jonas Kelsall and Rob Reeves will always be part of Caddo's story and will never be forgotten.

Today, Caddo Schools joins our nation in remembering the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

We honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the first responders who ran toward danger, the families forever changed, and the countless acts of courage, compassion, and service that followed.

Twenty-five years later, we remain committed to ensuring future generations understand the significance of this day and the enduring strength that comes when we stand together.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

Today was about celebrating what comes next.

We were proud to host our inaugural CaddoWorks Internship Signing Day, recognizing 32 Caddo students as they officially signed on for Fall 2026 internships with 20 local businesses and community partners.

Through CaddoWorks, students are gaining hands-on experience in fields ranging from construction and healthcare to public service, hospitality, entrepreneurship, transportation, and more. Just as importantly, they are building relationships, developing workplace skills, and beginning to see the opportunities available to them right here in our community.

We are grateful to the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce and each of our business and industry partners for investing in our students and helping us build the next generation of Caddo's workforce.

Congratulations to our Fall 2026 interns!

September is Attendance Awareness Month, and we’re kicking it off with a simple message: every day matters!

When students are in school, they are learning, building relationships, discovering new opportunities, and taking another step toward their goals. Strong attendance is one of the most important ways we can help every student succeed.

Thank you to our families, educators, and community partners for working alongside us to make every school day count.

We are so thankful for the incredible business and industry partners who continue to show up for Caddo students!

Through our partnership with the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce, students are gaining meaningful, real-world experiences, building connections, and seeing firsthand the opportunities available to them right here in our community.

We are proud of what this partnership is making possible and excited to keep growing it. If your business or organization is interested in helping inspire and prepare the next generation of Caddo’s workforce, we would love to have you join us.

Herndon Magnet School will reopen Monday for normal school operations.

Water pressure and flow have remained stable at the campus, and based on those sustained conditions, we are ready to welcome students and staff back to school.

Thank you to our families and staff for your patience and flexibility as we worked through the water service disruption.

Herndon Magnet will be closed today, Friday, August 28, due to very low water pressure stemming from yesterday’s water main issue within the Blanchard Water System.

There is currently no estimated time for full restoration of water service. We will continue working with our utility partners and will share updates with families as additional information becomes available.
