✅ UPDATE: Repairs Complete at the Inner Loop Booster Station

We're pleased to report that AMISS staff successfully installed the replacement part damaged by last weekend's lightning strike at the Inner Loop Booster Station.

Following the storm, Water & Sewerage crews immediately implemented contingency plans, restored water pressure to affected customers, and worked closely with contractors to secure the specialized replacement equipment needed for permanent repairs.

Today, the new part was installed, and the booster station has been returned to normal operation.

We want to thank our Water & Sewerage crews, AMISS staff, and our contractors for their quick response and hard work in restoring and maintaining water service for our residents.

Thank you to our customers for your patience and understanding throughout this repair process.

FLASH FLOOD SAFETY: TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN

Heavy rainfall can quickly turn roads into dangerous waterways. Just a small amount of moving water can sweep a vehicle off the roadway, placing lives at risk.

Remember:

• As little as 6 inches of moving water can cause a driver to lose control of a vehicle.
• Approximately 18 inches of moving water can carry away most passenger cars.
• Approximately 24 inches of moving water can sweep away SUVs, trucks, and vans.
• Never drive around barricades or road closure signs.
• Do not attempt to cross flooded roadways, even if the water appears shallow.
• Be especially cautious at night when it is difficult to judge water depth and roadway conditions.

Floodwaters can hide washed out pavement, debris, and strong currents. The safest decision is to turn around and find an alternate route.

The Shreveport Fire Department encourages all residents to stay weather aware, monitor local forecasts, and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rainfall.

When you encounter a flooded roadway, remember the message that saves lives: Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
