The Clean Water Task Force will hold its next public meeting Thursday, September 17, at 6 p.m. at Southern Hills Park Community Center, 1002 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop.

The meeting will include an overview of Shreveport’s water system, a discussion about public perceptions of water quality, a blind taste test and an opportunity for public comment.

Can’t attend? The meeting will be recorded and available on the City of Shreveport’s YouTube channel the following day.

We encourage residents to attend, ask questions and be part of the conversation.

Twenty-five years ago, on September 11, 2001, our country experienced a day of unimaginable loss.

Nearly 3,000 people went to work, boarded airplanes, reported for duty, or simply began an ordinary Tuesday morning — and never came home.

We remember them today.
We remember the firefighters, police officers and first responders who ran toward danger when every instinct told others to run away.
We remember the passengers and ordinary citizens who showed extraordinary courage.
And we remember the families whose lives were changed forever.

For those of us who lived through September 11, it can be hard to believe that twenty-five years have passed.
But there is now an entire generation of Americans who knows that day only through photographs, video and the stories we tell them.
That makes our responsibility even greater.

We have a responsibility to remember what was lost. To teach what happened. And to remember what followed — Americans helping strangers, communities coming together, and a country united by compassion and a determination to care for one another.

Twenty-five years later, may we honor those we lost not only by remembering how they died, but by remembering the courage, service and humanity that rose in response.

On behalf of the City of Shreveport, I ask you to join me today in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001, their families, and all those whose lives were forever changed.

May we never forget.

Get ready for one of SPAR’s favorite fall traditions!

Join us for the City of Shreveport's Annual City-Wide Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 31, from 3:00–5:00 p.m. at the Cargill Sports Complex.

We're looking for businesses, churches, organizations, clubs, and community groups to decorate a trunk and help make Halloween unforgettable for local families. The more trunks we have, the more smiles we'll see!
