🎃👻 Happy National Boss’s Day to the legend himself, Brian Sherman! 👻🎃

From student worker to Dean, Brian has been part of Noel Memorial Library for 23 years, wearing many hats along the way! He started his journey here as a student worker in 1999 and became Dean in 2017, a role he continues to hold today.

What better way to celebrate than with this spooky throwback from 2005 that was sent in by the NWLA Archives?

Last week our faculty attended the Louis User Experience Conference (LUC)!

Our librarians got to meet and collaborate with the library community from across the state and present on topics that are valuable to Noel Memorial!

Our time in Baton Rouge was filled with a wealth of knowledge and camaraderie!

Thank you to everyone who presented, participated and supported!

Can’t reach a book? We’ve got you!

(If you see material on a higher shelf and you don’t feel comfortable using one of the stools, reach out to our faculty and staff! We’re happy to assist!)

Visual Description:
The video opens with a librarian shrugging their shoulders and saying, “Sorry, we’re a little short-staffed right now.” The camera pans to another librarian struggling to reach a book on a high shelf. A staff member then appears in the frame offering the librarian a stool. The librarian uses the stool to reach the book successfully. Everyone in frame celebrates!

It's spooOoOoky season, Pilots! 🎃

Our Scholarly Communications Librarian, David Gaither, is helping us get into the spirit by exploring why stories of ghosts, monsters, witches, and other creatures of folklore continue to captivate us. The conversation will look at the origins of Halloween, connections between traditional folklore and modern Halloween customs, and why these stories remain popular today.

Talks on Tap takes place Tuesday, October 13 at 6:00 p.m. at Great Raft Brewing in Shreveport!
