State of Black Shreveport

State of Black Shreveport Gathering of Business, Community Leaders, Education Advocates, Elected Officials, Clergy and citizens to discuss the challenges facing the Black Community

In February 2011 with the back drop of Black History Month we convened the first SOBS. After a full analysis of the above mentioned statistics we gathered Business Leaders, Community leaders, Education Advocates, Elected Officials and Clergymen to discuss the challenges facing the Black Community. As a result SOBS 2011 was created with (3) panel discussions at historic Booker T. Washington High Sc

hool. These panel discussions were as follows:
(1) Religious/Community Groups: “How does the modern day Church and Civil Rights Organizations transform to meet the Challenges of current Black America”? (2) Education Advocates: “What education reforms will benefit our children in Black America”? (3) Business and Political Leaders: “How does business and government works collectively to create wealth and opportunity in Black America”?
