Over the last two weeks, the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office Regional Training Academy proudly hosted a series of vital impaired‑driving enforcement courses for law enforcement officers across our region.

Officers and Deputies from the surrounding area participated in Intoxilyzer 9000 Training, Standardized Field Sobriety Test Training, and Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE). These courses strengthen the skills needed to detect and arrest impaired drivers on Louisiana roadways, helping keep our community safer.

We appreciate the dedication of every officer who attended and their commitment to protecting the people of Louisiana.

CPSO to Host Women's Fi****ms & Safety Course
The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office will host a Women's Fi****ms and Safety Course on Saturday, October 3, 2026. This course is designed to help women build confidence, enhance their personal safety awareness, and learn practical skills in a supportive environment.

The course will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office Regional Training Academy, located at 15639 LA-1, Shreveport, LA 71115. No prior experience is necessary, and lunch will be provided.

Participants will receive instruction in personal safety awareness, self-defense basics, fi****ms familiarization, and available support resources. The guest speaker will be Leslie Lacy from our own Domestic Violence Unit.

"This course offers women in our community the opportunity to gain practical knowledge and skills that can help them feel more confident and prepared regarding their personal safety," said Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. "Education and hands-on training are essential tools for making informed and responsible decisions about safety."

Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office Receives Generous Donation from EXCO Operating Company to Support Domestic Violence Unit
Caddo Parish, LA — The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) is proud to announce a generous donation of $2,000.00 from EXCO Operating Company in support of the CPSO Domestic Violence Unit.
This contribution will directly assist the unit’s ongoing efforts to provide essential resources, support services, and advocacy for victims of domestic violence throughout Caddo Parish. The donation helps strengthen the department’s mission to protect victims, raise awareness, and promote safer communities.
Public Information Officer Breck Scott expressed gratitude on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office, stating that the support from EXCO Operating Company will make a meaningful impact. “We sincerely appreciate this donation. These funds will help provide critical assistance to individuals and families affected by domestic violence and enhance our ability to respond to those in need.”

Free Reading Program Open to Families

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office is partnering with the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities to provide families with a free reading program. Prime Time Family Reading is designed to help young children build a strong foundation in literacy, creativity, and critical thinking. The six-week program kicks off at 6 p.m. on Monday, September 14, at Sheriff’s Safety Town, 8910 Jewella Avenue, Shreveport, LA 71118.

Prime Time Family Reading combines interactive storytelling and discussion led by deputies. Children will explore important topics such as fairness, courage, and dreams in a safe and welcoming environment. Families with children ages 6–10 are encouraged to attend. In addition to dinner and door prizes for families, children will receive award-winning books to take home.

HONORING THOSE WHO SERVED AND SACRIFICED
The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office and Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. are grateful for the invitation to join our neighbors in Bossier City for the 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at Liberty Garden.
It was an honor to gather alongside members of our community, first responders, veterans, and local leaders as we remembered the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and paid tribute to the courage and sacrifice shown on that day and in the years since. We were privileged to hear from several outstanding speakers, including Speaker of the House Mike Johnson.
We are also thankful to Caddo Magnet High School for inviting us to take part in a special tribute honoring two fallen heroes, Jonas Kelsall and Rob Reeves, who gave their lives while serving our nation as U.S. Navy SEALs.
Their courage, service, and sacrifice are reminders that the freedoms we enjoy come at a tremendous cost.
Today, we remember those we lost, honor those who answered the call to serve, and stand with the families who carry their legacies forward.
We will never forget.

September Youth Diversion Classes Offer Positive Path for Teens

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office is inviting parents and guardians to bring their pre-teens and teens to a free youth diversion program designed to help young people make positive choices.

Two class session options will be offered in September. Teens may attend either Saturday, September 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or Saturday, September 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Both classes will be held at the Community Relations and Crime Prevention Office, located at 1501 Corporate Drive in Shreveport.

The program is geared toward youth who may be facing challenges related to peer pressure, behavioral issues, substance abuse, gun violence, or other factors that can place them at risk. Through education, discussion, and mentorship, teens will learn strategies for making responsible decisions, developing positive relationships, and avoiding behaviors that can lead to involvement in the criminal justice system.

Parents and guardians who believe their child could benefit from the program are encouraged to sign them up for the class. For additional information, contact Deputy Vernita Williams at 318-681-0869.

We Will Never Forget — September 11, 2001

Today, the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office joins our nation in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We honor the innocent victims, the first responders who bravely ran toward danger, and the countless heroes who answered the call to serve in the days, months, and years that followed.

We also remember the families whose lives were forever changed. May we continue to stand beside them and keep the memory of their loved ones alive.

On this Patriot Day, we reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and unity Americans showed in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
