🎉 CELEBRATING 190 YEARS OF LEGACY | CAESAR CARPENTIER ANTOINE 🎉

Today, the Shreveport-Bossier African American Chamber of Commerce proudly honors the 190th birthday of Caesar Carpentier Antoine (1836–1921), a pioneering Black leader whose life and legacy are deeply woven into the history of Shreveport, Caddo Parish, and Louisiana.

Born a free man of color in 1836, Antoine served our nation in the Union Army during the Civil War before making Shreveport his home. His remarkable journey of service continued as he represented Caddo Parish in the Louisiana State Senate and later served as Lieutenant Governor of Louisiana during Reconstruction.

Antoine was also a businessman, newspaper publisher, civic leader, and advocate for civil rights. He later helped organize the Comité des Citoyens, the Citizens’ Committee that challenged Louisiana’s segregation laws in the historic case that became Plessy v. Ferguson.

His story reminds us that Black leadership, entrepreneurship, advocacy, and public service have been shaping Northwest Louisiana for generations.

190 years after his birth, we remember his courage, celebrate his contributions, and continue building upon the foundation laid by leaders like Caesar Carpentier Antoine.

🏈 MEMBER SPOTLIGHT | A MAJOR WIN FOR LOUISIANA ATHLETES

The Shreveport-Bossier African American Chamber of Commerce is proud to celebrate Shreveport’s own Alonzo P. Jackson Jr. Attorney at Law on passing the 2026 NFL Players Association (NFLPA) Contract Advisor Examination!

This achievement is bigger than one professional milestone. It represents the continued growth of the sports and athlete-representation industry right here in Northwest Louisiana and creates another pathway for athletes across our region and state to access knowledgeable representation close to home.

Jackson’s work already spans High School NIL and College NIL representation, and he is now continuing the certification process toward representing professional football players in NFL contract negotiations.

From Queensborough and Bill Berry Park to the path toward the NFL, his journey is a powerful example of the talent, expertise, and opportunity being built right here in Shreveport.

Attorney Jackson dedicated this accomplishment to his late father, Alonzo P. Jackson Sr., his first mentor and coach, who instilled in him a lifelong love of sports.

The SBAACC is proud to have Attorney Jackson as part of our community and even prouder to celebrate an achievement that can have an impact far beyond Shreveport.
