Alison and I had a great Easter with our sons and their families. It was very "busy" with seven (7) grandchildren, but still a joyful time! Wishing our family, friends, and supporters, the best that life has to offer.

I want to thank again all the attorneys who supported me in the 2022 election, where I became a judge without opposition. If you ever what to "know" about a judge, ask an attorney-they do not hold back on their opinion. I have known the listed attorneys for many years and appreciate their professionalism and adherence to doing the best for their clients. As professionals, they also recognize that judges must be unbiased, fair and even, and above all adhere to the rule of law.

Since assuming the bench in 2022, Judge Edwin Byrd has overseen hundreds of complex and difficult trials, hearings, and routine judicial matters. Judge Byrd recognizes for every person appearing in court, their case is important. Judge Byrd is known for his careful preparation of each case and for making sure that all parties are adequately heard. He pays special attention to the law and evidentiary issues. Judge Byrd regularly teaches attorneys on issues of evidence and procedure. In addition, Judge Byrd "judges" at the Shreveport Bar Trial Academy and volunteers for area high schools' annual Mock Trial Competition. Judge Byrd is known in the legal community for his dedication and fairness. "My tenure at the 1st Judicial District Court of Caddo Parish has been marked by a commitment to uphold the Rule of Law and maintaining the integrity of the judicial process," Judge Edwin Byrd.

Judge Byrd and his wife Alison were raised in Shreveport and attended area high schools. They are the parents of two married sons and have six grandchildren.
