Don't forget - this Saturday is the group hike with the Nature Conservancy!
See the original post for all the details.
Hope to see you there!

Join us Saturday, August 26th for an end of summer hike to explore Brown's Lake Bog in Wayne County. Hike starts at 10am.

Brown's Lake Bog represents a very rare plant community in Ohio. The naturally acidic properties of sphagnum, coupled with its ability to insulate the water below from rapid air temperature changes, provided the right environment for the creation of the bog and its relict boreal plant communities. More than 20 rare plants are found here.

This Friday, May 19, at 10 a.m.
We will meet at the bog to cut out multi-flora rose. When we pulled garlic mustard a few weeks ago, we realized that this monster is a much bigger problem there. Our Nature Conservancy manager, Ross LeBold, will provide tools or you are welcome to bring your own loppers or pruners. As this rose has very poky thorns, it's best to wear a heavy long-sleeve shirt or jacket, and something you don't mind having a few snags.
**Please let us know in advance if you are planning on being there.**
