We have been working diligently to remove our old walkway, and working with some great engineers to design a new replacement walkway. This will be a great upgrade for all of our future tourists, but with such a major unforseen upgrade for the Shoshone Ice Cave it does have a major expense aswell. If you have ever visited the ice cave and enjoyed your time please help us share the word that we are starting a Save The Cave fund. Many of you may have seen a post about the ice cave walkway having a collapse. We would like to say thank you to the paramedics,fire department and police officers for the fast response. Thank you to anyone who helped others during this unforsee instance. Everyone is safe and has been seen for any injuries they may have initially sustained,and are being treated accordingly.Our thoughts are with anyone who may have been injured. I also want to mention that there is a post going around that people where trapped in the cave, this is false information.

Perspectives from inside the cave. 👀 🔦

The cave maintains a constant sub-freezing temperature due to a stable microclimate created by the low entrance and thick lava rock, which traps cold, dense air and moisture.

This allows for significant ice accumulation, even during summer months. And, it allows you to escape the extremely hot weather! Come enjoy the cold!
