We're days away from OktoBREWfest and the Shorewood Fireworks Show! Four to be exact😌

We pulled together the event details for anyone already planning their weekend!

📣OktoBREWfest is at Cene's Four Seasons Park from 3:30 PM to 11:30 PM.

•Entry is FREE, and the first 100 children to enter with their parents get craft goodie bags.
•The event is credit card only.
•No outside chairs or coolers will be allowed in the OktoBREWfest event area.

📣We've got a great entertainment lineup for you.

•3:30 PM - Dirndolls (Alpine folk)
•6:00 PM - Don’t Matter To Me (Classic rock)
•8:30 PM - FIREWORKS
•9:00 PM - How Rude 90's Tribute Band (90s hits)

📣Handicap and general parking are available in the main lot closest to the event area. Additional parking is available in the north and south lots when the main lot fills up. The map is below.

It's never too early to start prepping for fallen leaves. The Village offers two leaf disposal programs to meet residents' needs.

🍂Bulk Curbside Leaf Collection (Begins October 12th)🍂

Village crews will begin curbside leaf pickup on Monday, October 12, from 7 AM to 3 PM. Because of weather and leaf volume, pickup cannot be guaranteed on a specific day.

Please consider the following when prepping your leaves for pickup:

•Rake leaves onto the parkway parallel to the street and at least 12 inches behind the curb.
•Do not rake leaves into the street. It blocks stormwater flow and can cause flooding.
•Only leaves, please! No garden debris, brush, paper, cans, pet waste, etc.

🍂Bagged Leaf & Yard Waste Option🍂

Through Waste Management, residents can use biodegradable Kraft bags for leaves and yard waste through December 15. Place bags (under 50 lbs) curbside on Tuesday, Shorewood's regular collection day. Branches/brush must be tied in 4-ft bundles (under 50 lbs).

Join us at Four Seasons Park on Saturday, September 19, at 8:30 PM to enjoy Shorewood's rescheduled fireworks show.

At 8:30 PM, we'll take a brief break from the music at Oktobrewfest to enjoy the fireworks from the tent or the hill.

Today, we pause to remember the nearly 3,000 individuals who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks against the United States on September 11, 2001.

We honor the first responders and everyday heroes who responded with extraordinary courage in the face of tragedy, and we remember the lasting impact that day had on our nation. Twenty-five years later, we will never forget.

📣Heads Up: Black Road over I-55 Bridge Repairs Begin Sept. 14

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that repairs to the bridge carrying Black Road over the Interstate 55 in Shorewood will begin, weather permitting, Monday, Sept. 14.

To complete the work, the right lane on eastbound Black Road will be closed approaching the bridge. The public also should expect various overnight lane closures in both directions of I-55 from U.S. 52 (Jefferson Street) to Black Road. At least one lane in each direction will remain open during construction.

In early October, an overnight full closure of the northbound lanes on I-55 will be required to install steel beams over the expressway. The schedule and impacts to traffic will be shared closer to the closure date.

The repairs are expected to be completed in late October. The public can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Alternate routes are encouraged. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
